HOW WE ARE HELPING

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet

OUR METALS

100% of the jewellery created at Clio Saskia is made using recycled metals, as this has less of an environmental impact. Alongside castings, we exclusively use recycled wire and sheet metal for our chains, findings and forged pieces. We choose to support local craftspeople, and all our manufacturing processes are conducted within the United Kingdom.

OUR GEMSTONES

All our gemstones are ethically sourced and Fairtrade Level 1. This means they are traceable right back to the original mines, which adhere to strict human rights regulations and ethical mining practices. Our partners are actively working with communities that rely on the mining industry, helping to improve their operations and providing education to miners.

OUR CONTRIBUTION

We carefully select partners who are reducing their carbon emissions and working towards a greener future by improving industry practices and supporting positive change. Our packaging and promotional materials are made from recycled, found and green materials, and we offer carbon neutral delivery services within the United Kingdom.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

'Blood diamond' is a term most of us are familiar with, and the humanitarian issues caused by unregulated mining are far reaching. Currently many mining companies use dangerous chemicals such as cyanide and mercury to aid in the extraction of raw materials, causing serious damage to the surrounding ecosystem.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

With the realisation that our world is reaching a point of no return, we want to effect positive change within our industry to work towards a greener future. The responsible and sustainable development of mines can bring economic empowerment to communities local to the mine, while conservation of surrounding ecosystems can support the fight against climate change.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

  • REWILD YOUR GARDEN

Encourage wildlife into your gardens by sowing wilfdlower seeds and leaving grass to grow long. Top bee-friendly plants to choose: lavender, hawthorn, bluebells, ox-eye daisy and crab apple trees.
  • SLOW FASHION

Take time to research your purchases and find out how companies are getting involved with ethical issues. Are they reducing their carbon footprint, choosing green materials and are they transparent about their supply chain?
  • EDUCATE YOURSELF

Knowledge is power, and there are so many ways you can learn about the challenges our society is currently facing. Watch a David Attenborough documentary or read a book about rewilding our gardens or Fairtrade.
  • HIGH QUALITY

If you can, try to buy high quality products which will last longer. Look for recyclable materials, if they are grown organically or sustainably and ethical accreditaion.
